Alive Phytoplankton? Broken Cell Wall Phytoplankton? or Pure Freeze Dried Phytoplankton?

Broken Cell Walls and Alive Phytoplankton have been in the news lately…..Why is the wall broken? Do we want the unique nutrients released to become oxidized before we consume them? Why would you then flash dry and pasteurise these fragile nutrients
including omega 3. Do we need sea water with our phytoplankton? Can it still alive in the bottle when it needs sunlight?

In the wild there are many species of phytoplankton, many have hard silica shells which have been traditionally been used on fish farms.. these hard shells need to be removed for human consumption, hence the broken cell wall. The resulting pale
coloured liquid is then flash dried and pasteurised (to prevent fermenting) but it also destroys many of the nutrients including Omega 3 and enzymes at the same time.

Alive Phytoplankton is in a salty brine this also stops it from fermenting, however it is Not Alive….. it’s “pickled”.  It does have all the nutrients in tact but in very small quantities with the water.
